After a highly successful debut, the upcoming Global Shrimp Forum is set to make a grand return, aiming to surpass its previous achievements. Scheduled to take place from 5-7 September at the Van der Valk Hotel in Utrecht, the Netherlands, this event has garnered immense popularity, resulting in the majority of ticket packages being sold out. Although most tickets are gone, a limited number of late-bird tickets are still available for purchase.

The event’s agenda boasts an impressive lineup of speakers and panelists for this year. The list of 110 speakers includes prominent figures in the industry such as Rajagopal Choudary Chitturi, the Chairman of Devi Fisheries; Adam Brennan, the Chief Sustainability Officer at Thai Union; and Gibran Huzaifah, the Founder and CEO of eFishery.

Exciting breakout sessions are also planned, featuring industry leaders like Carlos Miranda, the General Manager of Skretting Ecuador; Diego Xavier Illingworth Torres, the CEO of the National Aquaculture Group in Saudi Arabia; and Hidetami Haruta, a Japanese Shrimp Buyer at Maruha Nichiro. Notably, representatives from the Food Safety Authority of the EU and the National Fisheries Institute of the US will provide regulatory updates.

Attendees will have the chance to engage in discussions about technological advancements and innovation in the shrimp industry, guided by Anton Immik from ThinkAqua. The detailed program, including the complete list of speakers and panelists, can be accessed on the event’s website.

Building on the groundbreaking conversations from the previous year, the Global Shrimp Forum Foundation (GSFF) has funded a study focused on promoting global shrimp consumption. The preliminary findings of this study will be unveiled during the Opening and Inspiration plenary session, fostering debates and discussions throughout the forum.

Willem van der Pijl, co-founder of the Global Shrimp Forum, expresses his excitement for the return of the event and the stimulating program it offers. “Last year’s inaugural event was hugely successful, and marked the first truly global opportunity for people throughout the sector to come together and discuss key common issues. We are delighted that the event is returning next week with such an exciting and thought-provoking programme. I very much look forward to speaking this year and meeting with delegates from across the globe”, Willem says.
